Alvin A. Loewenberg had a 38-year career in the aging field and has long been an advocate for older adults and needs that are specific to an aging population. Locally, Alvin has served on the Board of numerous nonprofit organizations, including as the Board Chair of ARTS San Antonio, as one of the tri-chairs for Successful Aging & Living in San Antonio (SALSA), and current Board Chair of San Antonio Jewish Senior Services (SAJSS).
On the state and national level, he has presented to the Texas Legislature and to Congress on how to better serve older adults. He has served as Board Chari of LeadingAge Texas and received their Award of Honor and Award of Merit. He served on the LeadingAge national Board and has chaired many committees for the national organization.
He is often called upon to speak on the subjects of nonprofit leadership, Board development, and things to consider as we grow older. However, he will be long remembered for his 26 years of leadership as President and CEO of Morningside Ministries from which he retired in 2017.
